Brennan - Village Mayor
was appointed Village Trustee in May 1999 to fill a vacancy and was
elected in March 2000 for a full 4-year term as Trustee. He
successfully ran for Mayor in March 2004 after the retirement of
Mayor Lynda Distler. Tom was re-elected in 2008 and again in 2012.
He has been a Village resident for nearly 50 years, is married and has
raised 3 children and has 2 grandchildren. Tom is a Navy Veteran and a
member of the American Legion Post, Rotary International and Kiwanis
Clubs, Lindenhurst Historical Society, the Knights of Columbus,
the Ancient Order of Hibernians as well as the Loyal Order of Moose.
He also serves as a Lindenhurst National Little League Executive Board
Member, a Director and a Manager. Mayor Brennan is also a local
businessman as a Director of the Lindenhurst Funeral home as well as a
member of the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce. He was the 2010
winner of the Pride of Lindenhurst Award presented by the Lindenhurst
Board of Education. He is member of the Knights of Columbus OLPH Council
794 and was also the 2009 winner of the Knights of Columbus Irishman of
the Year Award.
McCaffrey - Village Trustee (Deputy Mayor)
Kevin J. McCaffrey has been an
active resident of Suffolk County since 1984. He joined his local civic
association after moving to Lindenhurst and eventually served as its
President. In 1990 he was elected as Lindenhurst Village Trustee. Kevin
has served as Trustee and Deputy Mayor since then. In 1995 he was
elected to the Teamsters Local 707 Executive Board and then President in
2000, a position he still holds today.
Five years ago, Kevin also took on the role of Fund Manager of
the Union’s Benefit Funds.
As the Fund manager, he is responsible for the
daily operation of the Pension & Health Funds. The Funds cover over
5000 participants providing retirement and health benefits.
As the President of Teamsters Local 707, Kevin is responsible for
managing an annual budget of over 1.5 million dollars.
He is in charge of negotiating and administrating over 30
collective bargaining agreements with various employers around the
country. As a member of the
National Negotiating Committees for the National Master Freight
Agreement and ABF Freight Agreement, he has been instrumental in
negotiating these contracts which represent over 50,000 workers
nationwide. As the President
of Teamsters Local 707, Kevin has been a speaker at many of the
International Brotherhood of Teamsters educational conferences.
Kevin is a graduate of Berner High School in Massapequa and went on to
Farmingdale State College to complete coursework towards Business
Administration. He is
presently working to complete requirements for a Bachelors Degree from
Empire State College. Sponsored
by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Funds along with the
Wharton School of Business, he received his designation as a Certified
Benefit Specialist (CEBS) in December 2005.
CEBS is the leading and most respected designation in the area of
employee benefits and human resources.
for his leadership qualities and approachability, Kevin began his career
in government in 1990 by serving as a Trustee and Deputy Mayor of the
Incorporated Village of Lindenhurst. Lindenhurst is the largest Village
in Suffolk County with over 28,000 residents and a 10 million dollar
annual budget. He is responsible for overseeing operations at the
Department of Public Works and the Fire Department and represents the
Village at many official and community functions. During the aftermath
of Super storm Sandy he served as the Village’s liaison with relief
groups such as Camp Bulldog, Adopt a House and CRI. He
has been elected to six terms of office running at various times on all
major and minor party lines.

Knights of Columbus, OLPH Council 794, Financial Secretary for Irish
American Teamsters, Member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division
12, Former Little League Coach for Lindenhurst Little League and former
CYO Basketball Coach.
and his wife Julie a former Registered Nurse have been married for 29
years and are the proud parents of two children.
Their son Mike is a recent graduate of the New York City Police
Academy after receiving his MBA from Stony Brook University and his
daughter Katie recently received her Bachelors Degree from Farmingdale
State College. They still live in the same Lindenhurst home they bought
after they were married.
Lavorata - Village Trustee:
was elected Village Trustee in March 2004. He was re-elected in
2008 and 2012. Mike has been a resident of the Village of Lindenhurst
for 29 years. He is married to Helen for over 30 years and has a
daughter, Nicole. Prior to his election, Mike served for 10 years
on the Board of Zoning Appeals and one year on the Planning Board. He is
a member of the Lindenhurst Historical Society, the Mayor’s
Beautification Society and the Kiwanis Club. Mike has served on
the World War II Memorial Committee and is the founder of the Greater
Daniel Street Civic Association and also served as its first President.
He is also a member of the Le Donne Italia Lodge 2330 Chapter of
the Sons of Italy. Mike also served on the Daniel Street PTA and
as Chairman of the PARP Program for 3 years. He was also a
recipient of the Daniel Street PTA’s Wendy DeFrancisco Memorial Award
has been an Electrical Engineer for over 20 years working on various
Military Programs as a Consultant and is currently employed as a Senior
Project Engineer for a large Public Safety Corporation here on Long
is a member of the Knights of Columbus OLPH Council 794 and was also the
inaugural 2011 winner of the Knights of Columbus Italian-American of the
M. Masterson - Village Trustee: Joan was elected Village Trustee in
March 2012, after serving on the Two Family Review Board for three
years. She also worked previously as a part-time clerk typist for the
Village Court. She is
married to Dan Masterson and has three daughters; Donna, Doreen and
Dawn. Joan has been a
resident of the Village for almost 50 years and was actively involved in
the PTA at E.W. Bower School when her children were young. She
and her husband, Dan have been active members of the United States Guard
Auxiliary for over 35 years. Joan
is a crew member, public relations officer, and is actively involved in
teaching boating safety to adults and children in the community.
As a crew member, she assisted the Coast Guard in the recovery
operation after the Flight 800 tragedy and in the aftermath of 9-11 as
well. She was a member of
the Lindenhurst Lodge of the Loyal Order of Moose for several years, and
is currently a member of the Amityville Yacht Club.
Joan worked for the Town of Babylon as a Recreation Aide at
the Tanner Park Senior Citizen Center for 27 years before retiring from
full-time employment. She is
currently, back at Tanner Park, working part-time as an assistant.
Joan attended St. Michael’s Academy and graduated from
the Thorpe Secretarial School.
Weckerle - Village Trustee:
Maryann was elected to her first public office as Village Trustee in
March 2006. She
was re-elected in 2010. Maryann is
a lifelong resident of Lindenhurst and is married with one son.
Her past includes extensive involvement with the local PTAs, having
chaired many committees and serving on the District Planning Team for
Site-based Management and the PTA Council Scholarship Committee.
Maryann is a past president of the Lindenhurst Historical Society and
presently serves as its treasurer. Other involvement includes
executive board member status with the Mayor's Beautification Society,
member of the Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce, member of the Lindenhurst
Rotary Club, recipient of the Rotary Club's Community Service Award with
her husband, Tom, in 2005, and board member of the Village of
Lindenhurst's Business Improvement District. Maryann is the
proprietor of a family-owned 50 year-old local small business. She
is a graduate of Lindenhurst High School and has a B.A. in Business
Administration from Molloy College.
Justice H. John Bopp:
Bopp was elected Village Justice in 1990. He
was re-elected in 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2010. John
is married and has 5 children. He is a lifelong Village resident
and has had a private law practice here for over 30 years. He was
also an Assistant District Attorney in Suffolk County for over 4
Bopp is a former Law Clerk with the Town of Babylon and the Suffolk
County District Attorney’s Office. He is also the founder of the
Lindenhurst Bulldog Lacrosse Association.
